As a STARs member, students will gain hands-on experience in teaching, guiding, and motivating younger dancers. They’ll work closely with instructors to assist with class management, help demonstrate steps, and offer encouragement to younger students.
By taking on this role, students will enhance their ability to communicate effectively with peers and younger students, improve their public speaking and teaching skills, and learn how to manage a classroom. Through structured support and feedback from the instructors, STARs will be encouraged to practice patience and adaptability, which are key traits of great leaders.
This program encourages students to be role models. They'll be expected to show up on time, assist in lesson planning (when appropriate), and maintain a positive attitude both in and out of the studio. In turn, they’ll learn to manage time, balance priorities, and take accountability for their actions—skills that will serve them beyond the dance floor.
The program fosters a sense of community, where the older students work alongside their instructors and help younger dancers grow in their confidence and technique. They'll gain the satisfaction of seeing younger students progress thanks to their support.
The STARs Program is a win-win: younger students receive the support and guidance they need, and the older students develop critical life skills that will benefit them in the future!
